Proposal Samples

The following documents taught me the importance of the connection between the writer and the audience. As both writer and editor, I learned how to convey the intent of the organizations, writers, and communities I was writing and editing for through creating these proposals. I was taught to consider the intended audience, what they needed, and how they may use this document. Every detail was meticulously planned and adhered to the constraints provided.

Grant Proposal: Manatee Camera Project

The Manatee Camera Project was a fictitious grant proposal I wrote as part of ENC 6247 The Proposal Writing Process. Throughout the course, our professor walked us through the grant proposal writing process. First, we studied one non-profit we would like to help and reached out to them to get to know about the non-profit and their needs. After reaching out to the non-profit we then started searching for eligible grants. Then we started drafting the proposal while simultaneously researching to learn more about the grant and non-profit. Throughout the semester, we learned how to write each section of the grant proposal and what might aid the non-profit through our research. This document is the culmination of all the work I completed in ENC 6247 during my first semester in graduate school.

Book Proposal: Autism in Women: Where We Are on the Spectrum a Survival Guide for Adult Female Diagnosis

The Autism in Women: Where We Are on the Spectrum a Survival Guide for Adult Female Diagnosis book proposal was written for ENC 5930 Current Topics in Professional Writing: The Editor, The Writer, and The Editing: What 21st Century Editing Means. In this course, I explored what it means to be both a writer and an editor along with how those roles are intertwined. For this project, I was tasked to research a topic and prepare a book proposal that explores that topic. I chose to focus on Autism in women, which has not been studied very much. This proposal has a book outline with chapter synopses, about the author, market research, target audience, and book description sections. My audience for this proposal was my professor, publishers, and literary agents.

Proposal: The RAWB Notification System Proposal

The RAWB Notification System Proposal was a fictitious proposal written for ENC 6071 Professional Writing Studies that addressed real community concerns. In this course, I explored civic discourse, ethics, genre theory, visual rhetoric, and case studies. For this particular assignment, I was tasked to study civic discourse within my community and write a proposal to fix a problem. In this case, I focused on a watering issue in my community where the county fines residents for going over their annual watering budget. However, residents are not told what their annual watering budget is which causes a major issue and a rift between residents and the county. In this document, I propose a notification system be created to help homeowners adhere to the budget which in turn helps the county not be fined for using too much water from the reservoir.
